# Ads in a feed

> In a vertical feed (a `ViewPager2`, a paging `RecyclerView`, a Compose pager), show an overlay or pause ad on the current page only.

In a vertical feed (a `ViewPager2`, a paging `RecyclerView`, a Compose pager), show an overlay or pause ad on the current page only. An overlay or pause ad out of sight for about a second while the app is active, such as a page swiped away while its view stays attached, ends with `INTERRUPTED` and frees the screen for the next ad. An overlay's duration, and the view time the SDK reports (`overlayViewDuration`), count only the time the ad is seen.
