# Ads in a feed

> In a vertical feed (a paging `UICollectionView`, a SwiftUI paging `ScrollView` or `TabView`), show an overlay or pause ad in the current cell only.

In a vertical feed (a paging `UICollectionView`, a SwiftUI paging `ScrollView` or `TabView`), show an overlay or pause ad in the current cell only. An overlay or pause ad out of sight for about a second while the app is active, such as a cell swiped away while its view stays in the hierarchy, ends with `.interrupted` and frees the screen for the next ad. An overlay's `duration`, and the view time the SDK reports (`overlayViewDuration`), count only the time the ad is seen.
